''In our perception there's a balancing act going on between

expectation and sense data but 

there's also the active inference approach - it points out a way in

which perception is always already actively engaged in and involved

in changing what the sense data are and changing the world, the external states. And that,

I think, does more deeply embed us in a reality out there, right when you

remember the action side of perception and that what the organism is doing is seeking

attunement through participation in that which is beyond itself''
